We can get so caught up with the expectations of Christmas such as buying multiple gifts, picture-perfect homes, having matching pyjamas or an elaborate dinner with 3 types of stuffing. It’s time to pause and reflect. Reassess your priorities and embrace actions that are meaningful to you, and what ones can we let go off.
Simplifying Christmas day is one way to reconnect with meaning. Instead of the pressure for a flawless feast, opt for a relaxed day that allows for meaningful family connection. Maybe instead of gifting your nieces and nephews with more stuff you opt for taking them somewhere fun and having some quality time with them.

Prioritise Time for Relaxation

Amidst the excitement, intentionally carve out time for yourself. Whether it’s a quiet morning with a book, a soothing bath, or simply savoring a hot coffee by the fire (or my preference a chai latte). Allowing these moments of calm will recharge your energy levels over the week.

Embrace Spontaneity

Sometimes the best memories are the unplanned ones. Allow room for spontaneity in your week. It could be a spontaneous drive or walk to admire some local Christmas house lights, a last minute invite for friends to call over for a board game, or a random act of kindness by sharing some sweet treats with a neighbour.

Savour the Moment

It’s easy to let fleeting moments slip away unnoticed. Often, we find ourselves fixated on what didn’t go as planned or the things we lack. Let’s change that narrative. Take a moment to reflect at the end of the day about what you were most grateful for, acknowledging and celebrating the small, positive moments.
